“The plan she put together was completely personalized to my baby, our family, and our goals.”
As a second time mom, there were things I had figured out with my first child that made me more confident in facing with my second child. Of course, you’ve heard very child is different. My hope was that would mean my second baby would be a perfect sleeper. I struggled with my first born for eighteen months. I was so thankful and optimistic when Graham was a good sleeper for the first three months of his life. I got lucky, I thought! Because it was certainly not out of any knowledge or effort on my end. He was just a good sleeper on his own.
Then at four months, he started having night wakings, and I responded the only way I knew how which was to nurse him back to sleep. My pediatrician cautioned that this might set up a bad pattern, but I thought he’s grown so much maybe he really is hungry at night and I didn’t mind the interruption. At six months, he upped his nightly feedings and refused to sleep in a travel crib when we would take trips for the holidays. He ended up in our bed.
By seven months, he was up three times on a good night and six times on a bad night. There were a lot of bad nights.
The naps were also going from good to bad to worse. He got to the point where here would only sleep on my lap after nursing to sleep. I needed help. Professional help.
I knew from my experience with my first son that my mommy heart could not handle extinction sleep methods. I wanted a more gentle, yet effective approach. I also knew I needed someone to hold me accountable so just following a book was not going to work.
After much research, I contacted Jeannine with Sleep Wise Consultants. She was highly recommended by other moms in the Frisco Moms Squad Facebook group. I will be forever grateful for her wisdom and care during this process. Through her confident guidance and expertise, I now have a baby who can put himself to sleep, sleeps through the night, and takes good naps. It’s amazing.
The plan she put together was completely personalized to my baby, our family, and our goals. She was quick to answer questions and give reassurance. I loved how she closely monitored our shared sleep log, and would reach out with instructions in how to make needed adjustments when she saw red flags. I now feel confident that I have the tools to tackle any hiccups or make necessay adjustments as my baby grows. It’s also comforting to know I have someone I trust that I can reach out to if we get stuck again.
At the end of the two weeks, Graham earned a certificate of achievement. It will certainly always be a point of pride for me not only that we conquered this together, but how we did it. And we couldn’t have done it without Jeannine.
